Iran's Civil Aviation Organization said on Friday, 3 Mehr 1405 (September 25, 2026), according to Mehr News Agency citing the Roads and Urban Development Ministry, that following the halt of Najaf flights that morning it has instructed airlines to stop displaying and selling tickets on the Iraq route, especially Najaf, until further notice. Under the order, airlines must refund the full fare of suspended flights as soon as possible and without any cancellation penalty.

The organization also asked airlines to schedule domestic flights to Iran's border airports to move passengers stranded at airports in both countries, and said permits and airport slots for these flights will be issued immediately. Travelers have been advised not to buy tickets on the route until the suspension is officially lifted.
The decision followed Najaf airport's halt of Iranian flights until further notice; the UAE, Georgia and Azerbaijan had earlier suspended Iranian flights as well.
