According to Fars News Agency, carried by Donya-e-Eqtesad on Tuesday, 18 August 2026 (27 Mordad 1405), Iran's Customs Administration chief Faroud Asgari said on the sidelines of a news program that registration for mobile phone import orders, halted since the start of this Iranian year, has resumed. He said the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade approved a mobile phone import quota on Monday, 17 August (26 Mordad), reopening the path for the devices to enter the country.
Asgari said only 1 million mobile phones were imported in the first five months of this year, down from more than 3 million in the same period last year, a shortfall the ministry's new decision is expected to help offset.
