A deputy agriculture minister said on Tuesday 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405) that, based on current projections, Iran's wheat output this year will exceed 14 million tonnes.
On that basis, he said, this year will be one of the better years of the past two decades for wheat in terms of both quantity and quality. Wheat is a staple commodity covered by Iran's guaranteed purchase scheme, and the level of domestic output feeds directly into import volumes, the foreign currency spent on staple goods, and the fiscal burden on the government.
