Iran's wheat growers body sees potential to export 500,000 to one million tonnes this year

The head of Iran's National Wheat Growers Foundation said on Tuesday 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405) that alongside achieving self sufficiency in wheat supply this year, there is potential to export between 500,000 tonnes and one million tonnes of wheat to world markets.
He warned at the same time that delays in paying growers what they are owed will create difficulties for next year's planting. Farmers' receivables from the guaranteed wheat purchase scheme are funded each year from government resources and bank facilities, and delays in settling them affect growers' decisions on how much area to plant in the following season.
