Despite Global Gold's Dip, Tehran's Coin and Gold Prices Rise Today on a Firmer Dollar

According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, published on Tuesday, 18 August 2026 (27 Mordad 1405), citing rates from Iran's Gold and Jewelry Union, the Emami coin traded higher today at 191 million tomans and 18 karat gold per gram also rose. Per Sahmino's own recorded data as of 11:39 local time, the Emami coin reached 1.92 billion rials (192 million tomans), up 0.8 percent from the previous day. The domestic rise came even as global spot gold, per Trading Economics, fell 0.4 percent from the prior day to about 4,399 dollars an ounce.
Donya-e-Eqtesad reported the domestic gold and coin rise came alongside a firmer dollar: the official exchange center's dollar rate rose from 155,737 to 156,077 tomans today, while the free market dollar rose to 186,980 tomans. Sahmino's own data put today's dollar rate at 186,800 tomans, up 0.16 percent.
