Dubai's Q1 GDP Grows 2.4%; IMF Cuts 2026 West Asia Growth Forecast to 0.7%

Dubai's gross domestic product reached AED 232 billion (about $63.2 billion) in the first quarter of 2026, up 2.4 percent year on year, driven mainly by growth in non oil sectors. According to The National, reporting July 8, 2026, the IMF simultaneously cut its 2026 growth forecast for West Asia to 0.7 percent, a 1.2 percentage point downgrade from its April estimate. The IMF attributed the cut to the fallout from the Strait of Hormuz closure on the region's energy exports.
