Economy and Finance Minister Seyed Ali Madanizadeh told reporters Wednesday, September 30, 2026 (8 Mehr 1405) that about 40 to 44 million people with low income and no assets such as property or a car have been identified for an increase in electronic food coupon (kalabarg) credit. He said the final increase figure will be set once the Plan and Budget Organization determines available funding, but given likely available resources, he hopes the increase will be at least 300,000 tomans per person.

The minister also announced the pilot launch of the "Iranian Credit Card" program at Bank Mellat and Bank Tejarat, with about 100,000 billion tomans (100 trillion tomans) earmarked in its first phase, to be expanded once the system's performance is confirmed. He said the program is not limited to marriage-related credit.
