ExxonMobil's second quarter 2026 earnings reached $14.5 billion, a $10.3 billion jump from the first quarter

31 July 2026 · 2 months ago

ExxonMobil announced on Friday, 31 July 2026, that its second quarter 2026 earnings reached $14,525 million, or $3.48 per share. The figure was $4,183 million in the first quarter of this year, an increase of $10,342 million in a single quarter. Adjusted earnings were reported at $14,680 million, or $3.52 per share.

Cash flow from operating activities in the second quarter was $23.6 billion and free cash flow was $17.2 billion. ExxonMobil returned $9.4 billion to shareholders, of which $4.3 billion was dividends and $5.1 billion share repurchases, and declared a third quarter dividend of $1.03 per share. The company said its upstream production, excluding regional disruptions, was the highest in more than two decades, with record Permian output.

Chief executive Darren Woods described the second quarter as one "shaped by disruption, but defined by execution." Alongside Chevron's $12.1 billion for the same quarter, ExxonMobil's result takes the combined profit of the two American oil majors to about $26.5 billion, earned in a market where crude prices have risen under the effect of supply disruption in West Asia and reduced traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
