Fed's Williams: One More Rate Hike May Be Needed This Year, but None Seen Needed in 2027
14 October 2026 | 6 days ago
John Williams, president of the New York Federal Reserve, said one more interest-rate increase may be needed by the end of 2026, but that he currently sees no reason to keep raising rates in 2027. Arzdigital reported the remarks on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, and he attributed his softer view to easing underlying inflation indicators.
Trading Economics wrote the same day that markets were pricing his comments ahead of the US inflation data, with gold near $4,150 an ounce; the same source recorded the spot price at $4,145.52, down 0.38 percent from the previous day. The remarks are one Federal Reserve official's view, not a formal decision of the Federal Open Market Committee.
