Fidan, after his call with Araghchi: Türkiye will continue its efforts to end the region's conflicts
2 August 2026 | 3 months ago
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said after a telephone consultation with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, that he had stressed in the call that Türkiye will continue its efforts to end the conflicts in the region and to establish a lasting peace. The remarks were reported by the Anadolu Agency and were carried by Iranian media in the early hours of Sunday, 2 August 2026 (11 Mordad 1405). According to Fidan, the two sides reviewed the latest regional developments and the course of regional negotiations during the call.
On the evening of Saturday, 10 Mordad, Araghchi held separate telephone calls with Fidan and with Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan's army chief, discussing the consequences of United States actions and the risk of escalating tension and insecurity in the region, and stressing Iran's readiness to protect its national sovereignty and to respond firmly to any aggression.
The course of regional diplomacy is one of the variables to which Tehran's currency and gold markets are sensitive: signs of mediation and de-escalation typically ease pressure on the exchange rate, while escalation works in the opposite direction.
