A field inspection by Donya-e-Eqtesad newspaper, published Thursday, September 10, 2026 (19 Shahrivar 1405), found that despite regulated prices set in late Khordad this year for five high-consumption dairy items, some products are still sold above the official rate. For example, two-kilogram low-fat yogurt tubs, regulated at 228,000 tomans, were found in some cases priced as high as 540,000 tomans, about 137 percent above the set rate; 400-gram UF cheese, regulated at 203,000 tomans, was found up to 33 percent higher, and one-liter low-fat bottled milk, regulated at 98,000 tomans, was found priced nearly 40 percent above the set rate. Akbar Fathi, deputy for planning and economic affairs at the Agriculture Ministry, told Tasnim news agency that price oversight has been assigned to task forces led by provincial governors, and that cases have been opened against violating companies. Iran's Consumer and Producer Protection Organization said it was not aware of any change in the regulated prices and would pursue legal action if specific instances of unauthorized price increases were reported.
