According to Eghtesadnews, as carried by Donya-e-Eqtesad, the free-market dollar in Tehran opened on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 266,920 tomans after a 2,150 toman positive gap, rose to 267,440 and closed at 266,340 tomans, 1,570 tomans above Tuesday's close. The report says market resistance stopped the dollar from passing 267,000. A gram of 18-carat gold closed at 26,663,000 tomans, up 349,000 from Tuesday, while the global ounce traded near $4,138 at 16:55.
After Tuesday's visits to Tehran by Asim Munir and Sergei Lavrov, the market had waited for a sign of easing tension between Iran and the United States; Eghtesadnews says none came and both sides repeated earlier positions. Ecoiran also reported rises in the dollar, euro, dirham and most coin and gold the same day. The official-market dollar remittance rate was 183,831 tomans. The Emami coin turned lower in the second half of the day.
