The currency market pulled back on Tuesday, 21 Mehr 1405 (13 October 2026), extending the recent declines. According to EcoIran, citing Tasnim, the free-market dollar fell to a range of 258,000 to 259,000 tomans and Tether traded around 257,000 tomans. At midday the same day the dollar had been reported near 260,700 tomans. Gold and coin also got cheaper at the same time.

The same report says the Central Bank has put a 2 billion dollar foreign-currency supply programme on its agenda in recent days and allowed sales of up to 10,000 dollars per national code. In the Tether market, overnight Tether-toman trading has been halted from hour 21 until 9 a.m., a daily purchase cap of 2,000 Tether per user has been set, and the pair's chart has been removed. According to the report, these steps are meant to slow the transmission of Tether swings into dollar-market expectations.

EcoIran stresses that the effect of these policies depends on supply actually being delivered, and that restricting one trading venue cannot replace adequate foreign-currency supply; after a short retreat the market may return to volatility. Rates move through the day, and the figures above are the ranges reported in Tuesday's trading.
