Galaxy Research: Bitcoin Set the Record for Its Largest Weekly Dollar Gain Ever
28 August 2026 · last month
According to Arzdigital, in a report published Friday, 6 Shahrivar 1405 (August 28, 2026), Bitcoin rose by about $14,775 in the week ending Monday, 3 Shahrivar (August 25), which Galaxy Research says was the largest weekly dollar gain in the cryptocurrency's history. The price jumped from $62,818 to $77,593 over that period, a gain of 23.5 percent. Galaxy Research said that in percentage terms it ranked as the 41st largest weekly gain in Bitcoin's history and the strongest rally since March 2023 (Esfand 1401).
The report said the rally was driven mainly by two factors: the US Treasury's announcement that it would double its long term bond buyback operations, and Donald Trump's call on Congress to pass the CLARITY Act on federal cryptocurrency classification, which triggered a broad short squeeze that liquidated about $2.7 billion in short positions. The market's Fear and Greed Index reached 74 on August 25, the highest level of trader optimism in the past year.
