Visa and South Korea's Dunamu Partner on Stablecoin Payments
28 August 2026 · last month
Visa and Dunamu, the South Korean parent company of crypto exchange Upbit, said on Friday, 6 Shahrivar 1405 (August 28, 2026), that they have formed a strategic partnership to explore stablecoin payments, cross border remittances and AI powered commerce. According to Cointelegraph, citing Dunamu's announcement, the companies will combine Dunamu's digital asset technology with Visa's global payments network.
The two are considering business models involving Open USD (OUSD), a dollar backed stablecoin unveiled in June that more than 140 companies, including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Coinbase and BlackRock, have signed up to use, though Dunamu said it has not prioritized a specific stablecoin for the partnership. The companies will also explore agentic commerce, in which AI agents make purchases and payments on a user's behalf.
