Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's parliament speaker and top negotiator in talks with the US, said on Friday, 10 July 2026, during a meeting with Indonesian parliament speaker Ahmad Muzani in Mashhad, that he told the US vice president directly during negotiations, "we have no trust in you." He added that "only those who are prepared for war can negotiate with the United States" and said Iran has never stopped being ready to defend the nation, warning that if the US ever betrays the recent understanding, Iran is prepared for an "all-out defense."
According to IRNA, Ghalibaf said Iran has never sought war but is duty-bound to resist and avoid surrendering to pressure.
