Traders in this market are sensitive to moves in the Japanese yen: years of low Japanese interest rates underpinned the yen carry trade, in which cheap yen funding was channelled into risk assets including equities and cryptocurrencies. Following the joint US and Japanese currency intervention in recent days, market attention has turned to the Federal Reserve's weekly balance sheet report.
