Global silver prices reached a seven-week high on Monday, 19 Mordad 1405 (10 August 2026), breaking above $65 an ounce. According to Trading Economics, silver rose to $65.71 an ounce that day, up 3.42 percent from the previous session; the metal is up 14.05 percent over the past month and 74.68 percent over the past year, though it remains well below its all-time high of $121.64 set in January 2026. Global gold also climbed as high as about $4,360 an ounce earlier that Monday, holding its own seven-week high; according to Ecoiran, silver traded between $63 and $64 during the morning hours before extending its gains later in the day.
The main driver was a weaker than expected US jobs report for July, released last week, which reduced the perceived odds of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike this year and supported non yielding assets such as gold and silver. Industrial demand also lent support: Trading Economics data showed China's imports of silver bearing ore rose 62.5 percent year on year in June to 219,000 tonnes, in line with expanding solar panel and power grid production.
