Gold fund turnover on Iran's commodity exchange reaches 8.1 trillion tomans on Sunday 2 August

According to the Iran capital market news agency SENA, a total of 1,127,451,527 gold fund units changed hands on the Iran Mercantile Exchange during Sunday's session on 2 August 2026 (11 Mordad 1405), with turnover reaching 8.1 trillion tomans.
Gold based commodity funds are a vehicle for indirect investment in gold. Rather than buying physical coins or bullion, the investor trades fund units on the regulated market and so avoids storage costs and the risk of buying an item of uncertain authenticity.
According to a separate SENA report on the same session, gold funds recorded inflows of retail money despite the negative tone of trading, with the value of buy orders exceeding sell orders. Silver funds also saw retail money come in during the same session.
