Sahmino Newsroom | 1 November 2026 | 4 days ago
Nader Bazrafshan, head of the Tehran Gold and Jewelry Makers and Sellers Union, told Mehr News Agency that a Ministry of Industry oversight council meeting on October 19, 2026 (27 Mehr 1405) decided that the specialized gold and jewelry union, rather than the virtual-business union, would issue licenses to online gold sellers. On Sunday, November 1 (10 Aban), he stressed that the decision had not yet been formally communicated and said he expected it within a month.

Bazrafshan said the union would then draft rules for licensing and oversight. The licensing authority has therefore been decided in principle but the change has not formally taken effect. He cited the growth in online trading of melted gold as one reason for pressing for the change.
