Government spokesperson says 400 megawatts plus new plant capacity will go to industry
28 July 2026 · 2 months ago
The government spokesperson said 400 megawatts of electricity, together with output from power plants due to come online by the end of summer 1405, will be allocated to industry. The announcement was published on Monday 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405).
Electricity shortfalls this summer have been one of the constraints on output at Iran's energy intensive industries, including steel, cement and petrochemicals. The volume of power allocated to industry feeds directly into capacity utilisation rates and therefore into the profitability of listed companies in those sectors.
