Grossi Tells Bloomberg: Signs of New Activity Seen at Iran's Kuh-e Kalang Site; Tehran Rejects the Claim

International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi said in a Bloomberg interview on the evening of Thursday, September 10, 2026 (19 Shahrivar 1405), that satellite imagery shows new activity at a site in Kuh-e Kalang, just south of Iran's main uranium enrichment plant. According to ISNA, carried by Donya-e-Eqtesad, Grossi stressed the agency has not yet inspected inside the tunnel complex and has no specific information on what activity may be taking place there. He also said he is increasingly concerned about a growing number of countries reconsidering acquiring nuclear weapons.
The remarks came a day after the IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution against Iran's nuclear program by a vote of 23 in favor, 8 abstentions and 3 against, and referred the file to the UN Security Council. Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei had earlier said claims about the agency's lack of access to Iran's nuclear facilities stem from two recent US and Israeli military attacks, and that Washington's focus on Kuh-e Kalang, where he said there is no nuclear activity, is merely a pretext.
