Hormozgan province denies rumours of explosions in Bandar Abbas and Sirik; only the Qeshm strike confirmed
30 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Ahmad Nafisi, deputy governor of Hormozgan province for political, security and social affairs, rejected reports circulating on social media about explosions in the counties of Bandar Abbas and Sirik early on Thursday, 30 July 2026, saying that as of that moment no enemy attack, explosion or incident had occurred in either county.
He stressed that so far only strikes on Qeshm Island have been confirmed, and that assessments of those are still under way. Nafisi asked residents to follow news about the province's situation only through credible official sources, and to refrain from resharing reports that carry no official source.
Bandar Abbas is Iran's largest commercial port and plays a central role in the country's goods imports, which is why any unverified report of an incident there can move expectations in the goods market and the currency rate.
