Iranian rice prices stay sticky at high levels; 10 kilos of Dom Siah Kalat costs 6 million tomans

30 July 2026 | 3 months ago

Prices for Iranian rice varieties held at high levels in the market on Thursday, 30 July 2026 (8 Mordad 1405), even as speculative price swings subsided. According to an Eghtesad Online correspondent, contrary to expectations of an easing once the harvest season passed, the prices marked on products in chain stores and retail outlets point to continued cost pressure on the household basket.

Based on the rates reported the same day, a 5 kilogram bag of Tabiat premium Hashemi rice was priced at 2,799,000 tomans. Mehman Navaz southern Anbarboo rice in a 10 kilogram pack sells for 3,900,000 tomans and TiTi Khomam Hashemi rice in a 10 kilogram pack for 3,500,000 tomans. Local Dom Siah Sadri Kalat rice and Hime luxury second-crop Hashemi rice are both priced at 6,000,000 tomans for a 10 kilogram pack.

According to the report, the price gap between high-yield and mid-range varieties and the premium aromatic northern grades has widened sharply, and some consumers who previously bought top-grade Iranian rice have shifted toward cheaper varieties or imported rice. Eghtesad Online described inflation in this segment as having stopped while prices remain sticky, meaning rates are no longer rising but are also not falling appreciably. The figures come from retail price monitoring and are not government-approved rates.
