Iran's customs administration delegates extension of temporary imports of goods, cars and machinery to local offices until late September

The technical deputy of Iran's customs administration has issued a circular to customs offices across the country delegating a set of powers to them until the end of Shahrivar 1405 (late September 2026). The circular, reported on Wednesday 5 August 2026, cites the continuation of the country's special conditions and aims to simplify customs formalities, support production and the tourism industry, and decentralise decisions.
Under the notice, permits for the temporary import of passenger cars and vehicles holding a carnet de passage may be extended to the end of Shahrivar 1405. Extension of temporary imports of road building and mining machinery is also allowed without approval from the customs imports office, and temporary imports of vehicles carrying a permit from Iran's investment organisation can proceed on that permit alone, without referral to headquarters.
On the export side, authority to extend temporary import permits under article 51 of the customs law, and temporary export permits for goods other than vehicles, was delegated to local offices. Temporary exit of trailers and semi trailers without licence plates is permitted until late Shahrivar, provided numbered seals are fitted and recorded in the relevant systems.
