Iran's Foreign Ministry says the Omani delegation left Tehran on Saturday evening and technical and political consultations on the Strait of Hormuz continue

Esmail Baqaei, spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Sunday, 26 July 2026, in an update on the talks with the United States, that the Omani delegation left Tehran on Saturday evening, 25 July, but that technical and political consultations between the two sides are continuing. He also set out the latest position on the Strait of Hormuz.
The remarks come after days in which Muscat has acted as mediator in talks on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and after the United States halted its bombing of Iran on Friday night, 24 July, following nearly two weeks of consecutive nightly strikes. Sahmino has already reported the Axios and CNN accounts of that halt and of the progress in the consultations.
For domestic markets this is the main variable: over recent weeks the direction of the exchange rate, gold and the Tehran Stock Exchange index has responded to diplomatic news and the status of the Strait of Hormuz more than to any other factor.
