Industry Ministry spokesperson Ezzatollah Zarei said on the evening of Tuesday, 20 October 2026 that new passenger-car import registrations under the scheme for Iranians living abroad remain suspended. He said the earlier Trade Promotion Organization letter to customs, cited in reports of a reopening, predates the suspension and does not describe the current rules. The statement corrects a report published earlier today that imports had resumed; clearance of cars already in the system is a separate matter.
