Iran's oil minister: most of the lost gas production capacity to return before the cold season

Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said on Wednesday 7 Mordad 1405 (29 July 2026), on the sidelines of a Supreme Energy Council meeting, that the Oil Ministry is making every effort to return most of the constraints created in gas production to the production cycle before the cold season begins. Given the constraints still in place on the production side, he said, decisions on managing consumption across different sectors had been necessary.
According to Shana, reconstruction work is proceeding in phases and relies on the technical capability of domestic specialists, with damaged capacity to be brought back gradually under short-term programmes following the recent war.
Earlier, on 29 Tir 1405 (20 July 2026), Mohammad-Jafar Ghaempanah told a crisis management committee meeting of the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Assaluyeh that the attacks had removed about 230 million cubic metres from the country's gas production capacity, a significant figure against national output of roughly 650 million cubic metres, adding to the pre-existing gas imbalance. He said about 100 million cubic metres of that capacity is expected to re-enter the production cycle within a few months, and that none of the country's oil and gas jetties had been shut down over the period.
