The head of Iran's Thermal Power Generation Company, Azim Etemadi, said in an interview published by Mehr on Sunday, 18 October 2026 that thermal plants achieved 98.8% availability and a 1.2% emergency outage rate during peak-demand days in summer 1405. He put operational output capability at the peak at 59,234 megawatts and daily generation at about 1.3 billion kilowatt-hours. He said a plan to manage a 5,000-megawatt shortfall was implemented to support industrial electricity supply. These are reported summer operating figures, not a winter capacity forecast.
