Yaghoub Andayesh, deputy for welfare and economic affairs at Iran's Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, told Mehr News Agency on Saturday 25 July 2026 (3 Mordad 1405) that a small shortfall arose in the Khordad food voucher payments and disbursements were made about a week late, but that all of the retailers' Khordad receivables were settled during Tir. He said payments continued without problems in Tir, and that the voucher scheme is funded from oil sales.
According to the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, the number of stores connected to the electronic food voucher gateway has risen from 290,000 last year to 690,000 this year.
A field report by a Mehr News Agency reporter from small retailers connected to the gateway, including protein shops, supermarkets, butchers and dairy stores, found that some retailers complained of government debts to them ranging from 200 million to 1 billion toman, and said payments had been made regularly up to Ordibehesht.
