Iraq has recovered about 482.6 billion Iraqi dinars (roughly $371.6 million) in stolen assets as of Sunday, 18 Mordad 1405 (August 9, 2026), under its anti-corruption campaign known as the Dawn Crackdown (Sawlat Al Fajr), according to Shafaq News, citing the Eco Iraq Observatory. The total includes about 390.08 billion dinars ($300.3 million) in cash, including $141 million converted into Iraqi currency, plus half a ton of gold valued at 185,000 dinars per gram. Eco Iraq said the sum exceeds the combined monthly payroll of Iraq's Transport, Environment, Migration and Displacement, and Oil ministries. Launched on June 28, 2026, the nationwide campaign targets current and former officials, lawmakers and business figures suspected of major corruption, and has led to dozens of detentions so far.
