Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected on Sunday, 18 Mordad 1405 (August 9, 2026), a 15 point Gaza plan drawn up by the US backed Board of Peace chaired by President Donald Trump. According to Ecoiran, Netanyahu said Israeli forces will not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas is fully disarmed. Al Jazeera also reported that the Gaza peace board's envoy said Israel is not required to withdraw without verification. The development comes as tensions across West Asia, including the standoff over the Strait of Hormuz, continue to weigh on global oil and gold price risk.
