Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday, September 7, 2026 (16 Shahrivar 1405), that Russia does not rule out resuming trilateral talks with the United States and Ukraine over the Ukraine war, though he said it was still too early to discuss a venue or exact date. The comments followed a weekend visit by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow to meet Vladimir Putin, and then to Kyiv to meet Volodymyr Zelensky. According to Agence France Presse, the last direct talks between Russian and Ukrainian negotiators, mediated by the United States, were held in Geneva in February and ended without agreement on the territorial issue, with no talks resumed since.
