Lavrov to Visit Tehran on Monday, 19 October, After Talks With Gulf Cooperation Council in Bahrain

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday, October 16, 2026 (24 Mehr 1405) that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will make a working visit to Tehran on Monday, October 19, 2026 (27 Mehr 1405) and meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

According to Zakharova, the meeting will cover international and regional issues with a focus on developments around Iran, Russian steps to ease tensions in the region, the implementation of agreements reached in recent high-level contacts, and practical steps to expand bilateral cooperation. The day before, on Sunday, October 18 (26 Mehr), Lavrov travels to Bahrain for a new round of Russia's talks with the Gulf Cooperation Council. The detailed agenda for the Tehran talks has not been announced.
