Lazarus Hacking Group Moves $19.4 Million in Bitcoin, Its Second Major Transfer This Month

According to Arzdigital, citing blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain, the North Korea linked Lazarus hacking group moved 244.148 bitcoin, worth about 19.42 million dollars, from wallets tied to the group on August 28, 2026 (6 Shahrivar 1405), when bitcoin traded around 79,500 dollars. It was the group's second large transfer this month; on August 12 it had already moved about 262.2 bitcoin worth 16.64 million dollars.
Separately, crypto exchange Bybit has filed a lawsuit against the North Korean government and the Lazarus group in a Washington federal court, seeking to recover assets stolen in a 1.5 billion dollar hack. According to blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis, North Korean hackers stole more than 2.02 billion dollars in cryptocurrency in 2025 alone, a 51 percent increase from the prior year.
