Lebanon's prime minister arrived in Baghdad at the head of a senior delegation on Sunday 26 July 2026 for talks with Iraqi officials on reviving the oil pipeline running from Iraq through Syria to Lebanon, on wider energy cooperation and on regional developments.
The visit comes as disruption to traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has put overland routes and oil pipelines across West Asia back in focus. The pipeline in question has been out of service for years. No transfer capacity, financing or timetable for its revival was announced.
