Mapna Power Plant Group Plans 430 Megawatt Solar Project as 1404 Net Profit Reaches 7.75 Trillion Tomans

Hamed Nikkar, a board member of the Mapna Group Power Plant Management Company (ticker وMPGZ, known as Vampna), said, according to a Boursenews report published Monday, 9 Shahrivar 1405 (August 31, 2026), that construction of about 430 megawatts of solar power capacity is included in the holding's investment plan. He named renewable energy development as one of the company's core priorities, alongside boosting the efficiency of existing plants and adding new thermal capacity, saying diversifying the power generation mix, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lower operating costs justify the solar investment.

Citing the company's financial results, Nikkar said Vampna's net profit for the 1404 fiscal year (ended March 2026) reached about 7.754 trillion tomans, driven by the performance of subsidiary companies and higher returns from its power plant assets. He said plants owned and managed by the Mapna Group have a combined generation capacity of about 6,500 megawatts, and that with national electricity demand rising, building new capacity alongside improving the efficiency of existing plants is increasingly important.

He also said the company plans to convert gas units to combined cycle configuration to raise output without building new plants, and that the capital market could help fund part of Vampna's power plant investment needs.
