Meta Platforms released its second-quarter 2026 results on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, after the close of US trading. Revenue rose 28% to $60.8 billion, above analyst estimates, but net income fell 14% to $15.85 billion. Earnings per share came in at $6.18, below market expectations, and advertising revenue for the quarter was $59.3 billion.
The decline in profit reflected $2.4 billion of charges related to legal proceedings and $1.18 billion of severance costs tied to the layoff of about 8,000 employees in May 2026. Meta's chief financial officer, Susan Li, said certain active legal and regulatory matters could significantly affect the company's business and financial results.
Meta raised the low end of its 2026 capital expenditure forecast, setting the new range at $130 billion to $145 billion, compared with $125 billion to $145 billion previously. The company guided third-quarter revenue to between $61 billion and $64 billion. Meta shares fell about 8% in after-hours trading.
