Mobile Phone Prices in Iran Jump Up to Fourfold in One Year
22 August 2026 | 2 months ago
According to an ISNA report published Saturday (August 22), a review of popular mobile phone prices from August 2025 to August 2026 shows some models rose between two and four times in price. The report says the increase was especially notable for mid-range and budget models, which account for a larger share of market demand and therefore directly affect the choices of most consumers. ISNA attributes the rise to combined pressure from currency volatility, higher import costs, and supply constraints, since Iran's mobile phone market is entirely import-dependent and any disruption to import registration or currency allocation quickly shows up in retail prices. The report also notes recent instances of restrictions or temporary halts on mobile phone import registrations, which have added to concerns about tightening supply.
