The public relations office of the National Iranian Oil Company said in a statement on Monday, September 14, 2026, that claims of wrongdoing in an oil sale contract, and of the matter being concealed from the company, were completely false and unsupported by any valid or official documentation. The statement responded to a report that had raised allegations involving an individual named Hossein Aghayari and an oil sale contract. NIOC said all elements of the report, including the claim the matter was hidden from the company and allegations against its officials, were untrue, and called the report an instance of spreading falsehoods and public disquiet. The company said it would pursue the matter through the relevant judicial authorities, including the media and culture prosecutor's office.
