NIOPDC: Gasoline Quotas for New Plate Cars at 1,500 and 3,000 Toman Have Not Been Removed

14 September 2026 | last month

Iran's National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) denied reports of changes to gasoline quotas for new plate cars in a statement carried by Donya e Eqtesad, citing Shafaqna, on Sunday, September 13, 2026 (22 Shahrivar 1405). According to the statement, all private passenger cars, except government vehicles, imported cars, vehicles registered in free trade zones and second and subsequent cars owned by multi car owners, remain entitled to a quota of 60 liters of gasoline at 1,500 toman a liter plus 50 liters at 3,000 toman a liter.

On newly manufactured domestic cars, for which a price cap of 1 billion toman had been set as a condition for receiving the quota, the company said a proposed increase to that price cap is under review by the relevant working group, given market changes, with no final decision yet announced. NIOPDC said the only change to gasoline pricing since September 8 (17 Shahrivar) this year has been the increase in the third tier price from 5,000 to 10,000 toman, and that the amount and method of allocating existing quotas has not changed.

The statement follows reports in some media outlets suggesting the gasoline quota for new plate cars had been removed or altered.
