Netanyahu casts doubt on reaching any deal with Iran in Fox News interview

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cast doubt on reaching any deal with Iran in an interview with Fox News, relayed by the Mehr news agency citing Al Jazeera on Wednesday, 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405).
Netanyahu said that every time negotiations come close to a result, attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz block progress towards an agreement. He also said that if Israel were attacked, the country would respond with what he called extensive power, and added that Tel Aviv and Washington share the goal of preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. He described his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump as excellent, calling it one of the best meetings he has had with a US president.
The outlook for negotiations is one of the main variables in the risk premium across energy markets and Iranian domestic assets. The remarks were published on a day when oil prices had risen after the resumption of attacks in the region.
