Netanyahu says Iran tops the agenda for his meeting with Trump as he travels to Washington
27 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, left for Washington on Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405), saying he would meet US President Donald Trump. According to the Mehr news agency citing Reuters, it is the eighth meeting between the two since Trump returned to office and their first since February 2026.
In a video statement as he departed, Netanyahu said: "In these complex times, you have to act with great determination and great wisdom. We will discuss all the issues on the agenda, especially Iran."
According to the report, Israel did not take part in the roughly two-week US military operation against Iran this month. Netanyahu has acknowledged in recent weeks that differences have emerged between him and Trump. The meeting comes after attacks between the United States and Iran halted at the end of last week, with reports of efforts to resume negotiations, a factor to which global energy markets have been sensitive. According to Sahmino's data, Brent crude stood at 90.79 dollars a barrel as of 17:27 on Monday, 27 July, down 6.6 percent.
