Newmont, the world's largest gold miner, released its second-quarter 2026 results on Thursday, July 23, reporting adjusted earnings of $2.10 per share, above the $1.99 analysts had expected (FactSet). The company's free cash flow reached a record $2.2 billion for the quarter.
Attributable gold production came in at about 1.29 million ounces, down from 1.48 million ounces a year earlier. Even so, its average realized gold price climbed to $4,414 per ounce, versus $3,320 a year ago, and that price surge offset the lower output. Newmont said it remains on track for its full-year 2026 production guidance of 5.3 million ounces.
Global gold has eased slightly from record highs in recent days, trading near $4,090 an ounce on Thursday, a level that still sets the tone for Iran's domestic coin and gold market.
