Global oil prices rose for a fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 (28 Mordad 1405). According to Bourse News, citing Reuters, Brent crude gained 55 cents, or 0.6 percent, to reach $91.55 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose 58 cents to $85.52; both benchmarks are at their highest levels since July 24.
Data from the American Petroleum Institute (API), as reported by Reuters, showed US crude and distillate inventories fell last week while gasoline stocks rose. Markets remain focused on the risk of supply disruption in the region: the US president has said no talks with Tehran are under way and that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains possible, while Iran and maritime tracking firms continue to report the route as blocked.
