Oman's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday, August 8, 2026 (17 Mordad 1405), that current talks on shipping arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz are proceeding in a positive and constructive atmosphere. According to Khabaronline, citing ISNA, the ministry also condemned repeated attacks on vessels in the strait, describing them as a violation of international law and territorial sovereignty, and stressed the importance of preventing any action that could harm the talks and the interests of all parties. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, was separately quoted by Al Jazeera the same day describing talks with Omani officials on designating safe shipping routes as "positive."
