Orange weather warning issued for three Iranian provinces over flood risk

Iran's National Disaster Management Organisation issued an orange level weather warning on Sunday 2 August 2026, placing the provinces of North Khorasan, Semnan and Golestan on alert. The warning cites the risk of flooding, water pooling on roads, disruption to road traffic and damage to agricultural produce.
The alert was issued while a rain system remains active over parts of northern and eastern Iran. Heavy summer rainfall can affect crops close to harvest and road transport on northern routes, a concern that coincides with heavier road traffic during the Arbaeen period.
