Fazlollah Ranjbar, spokesman for the Iranian parliament's social committee, said on Friday, September 25, 2026, in remarks reported by EcoIran citing Tasnim, that according to the latest information between 300,000 and 500,000 tomans will be added to the current food coupon (kalabarg) credit, though the increase will not be the same for everyone. Of the roughly 86 million people covered by the scheme, about 40 to 50 million are set to receive the increase, with some recipients getting up to the 500,000 toman ceiling.

Ranjbar said the measure does not need a new parliamentary vote and that the government will fund it from savings and by removing some high-income recipients, with eligibility determined together with the Economy Ministry and the tax administration. He said the plan is scheduled to take effect by 15 Mehr 1405 (October 7, 2026).
He added that parliament believes the increases alone do not meet household needs and that the one million toman coupon credit should preserve the purchasing power of the defined basket of goods. The remarks follow the head of the Plan and Budget Organization's announcement on Thursday, September 24, that coupon amounts would rise in Mehr.
