Pars Special Zone says more than 100 million cubic metres of gas will return to production within months

Sekhavat Asadi, managing director of the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Organisation, said in a report published by Mehr News Agency, citing the Oil Ministry, on Sunday 26 July 2026 that part of the gas production capacity damaged during the war has already returned to service, and that more than 100 million cubic metres is expected to be added to the country's gas production capacity within the next few months. Under that plan, about 60 percent of the lost capacity would be restored by the end of Azar 1405 (late December 2026).
South Pars supplies more than 70 percent of Iran's gas needs. Part of the refining and petrochemical facilities in the Pars zone was damaged during the war, and the Oil Ministry says debris clearance at the damaged units has finished and reconstruction has accelerated.
Alireza Sarmadi, production and operations manager at Pars Oil and Gas Company, said overhauls are under way on 20 South Pars gas platforms. This year's programme is tighter than in previous years because reduced processing capacity at some refineries rules out long offshore platform shutdowns, while the platforms must be ready for the cold season.
