Pezeshkian takes up delayed university faculty salaries with the Plan and Budget Organisation
1 August 2026 | 3 months ago
Iran's president Masoud Pezeshkian took up the delay in paying university faculty salaries by telephone with the head of the Plan and Budget Organisation, responding to complaints from university chancellors. The report was published at 8:24pm on Saturday, 1 August 2026 (10 Mordad 1405).
According to the report, the president ordered a specialist meeting with the relevant bodies to examine the issue, focused on setting a clear framework and finding a practical solution to the problem of paying faculty salaries.
Delays in the public sector's current payments are one signal of budget liquidity pressure. It had earlier been reported that arrears owed to Social Security pensioners remained unpaid after five months, with the fund's shortfall put at 820 trillion rials.
